Devotional: When Loneliness Lingers
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” —Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
Loneliness can sneak in quietly—after a move, in a strained relationship, during motherhood, or even while surrounded by others. It often whispers the lie that you’re forgotten or unseen. But Scripture speaks a louder truth: God is not distant. He draws near.
In moments when human connection feels far away, the presence of God remains steady. His Word tells us that we are never truly alone. Jesus, too, experienced deep loneliness—abandoned by friends, misunderstood by crowds, left to pray in solitude. He understands our ache. And He meets us in it.
“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” —Hebrews 13:5b (NIV)
The presence of God doesn't always change our circumstances, but it anchors our hearts. His nearness offers comfort, and His Spirit whispers reminders of your worth, your belonging, and your purpose.
Self-reflective Questions:
In what areas of my life do I feel most alone right now?
How might I be invited to experience God’s presence in the quiet?
Are there people in my life I’ve been hesitant to reach out to, even though I crave connection?
What truth from Scripture can I hold onto when loneliness speaks loudly?
If you're navigating a season of loneliness, you're not forgotten. God's presence is your constant. And sometimes, healing begins when you allow someone—like a trusted therapist or pastoral counselor—to walk with you through it.
